We can assist you to book appointments with foreign-friendly clinics and hospitals across Japan

Looking for foreign-friendly clinics in Japan? Below you can download our regional lists of clinics and hospitals that are used to seeing international patients, covering Hyogo, Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Hokkaido, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Sendai, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Nagano.

Each list gives you a starting point. However, opening hours, language support and the departments available can change, so we recommend confirming before you visit. If you would rather not call the clinic yourself, we can book a doctor appointment for you or arrange a medical interpreter for the visit.

For urgent care, the official JNTO guide to medical institutions also lets you search foreign-friendly clinics in Japan by area and language.

How to choose the right clinic

First, decide what kind of care you need. For colds, minor injuries or a repeat prescription, a local general clinic is usually the quickest option. For ongoing conditions or tests, a specialist clinic or hospital outpatient department may be more suitable, and some larger hospitals charge an extra fee if you arrive without a referral letter.

Next, check language support. Many clinics on our lists have staff who speak some English, but this can vary by day and by department. If you need precise communication about symptoms, medication or test results, an interpreter can make the visit much easier.

Finally, bring your residence card or passport, your health insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medication you take. As a result, the clinic can register you faster and prescribe safely.
